The scientific activity is focused on the study of histological and molecular alterations involved in the neoplastic pathogenesis with the aim of searching biomolecular markers for diagnosis, prognosis and selective therapies in different neoplasias and particularly in colorectal and ovarian tumours.
The scientific expertise includes:
1. Histocytological examination and diagnostics of the neoplastic and non neoplastic diseases of different tissues and organs and its correlation to specific genetic alterations;
2. Macroscopical examination and sampling of tissues and organs.
Technical skills and competences include:
1. Procedures of frozen and paraffin embedding of tissues and cells;
2. Special stains: histochemistry;
3. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) on fresh and fixed in formalin and paraffin embedded specimens (FFPE);
4. Molecular pathology: in situ hybridization (ISH) and other molecular techniques.
